The title of the article truly describes my feeling as soon as I entered into this small but beautiful hill station called Bhandardara. The town Bhandardara is nestled in between the Sahyadri (also known as the Western Ghats) and the shores of River Pravara. Bhandardara is also home to the Everest of Maharashtra Mount Kalsubai, and trust me the natural beauty of Bhandardara will surely leave you amazed. The view of cascades and waterfalls at every 5-minute walk makes this place even more surreal.
Before the photos, here are the details that’ll come handy while planning your trip to Bhandardara.
How to Reach Bhandardara?
The distance from Pune to Bhandardara is 165 kilometers which is the same as that of Mumbai to Bhandardara. If you’re coming from Mumbai, then take a turn from Ghoti after Igatpuri (Nashik District).
The nearest railway station is Igatpuri in Nashik District. It’s the best option if you can go by car or bike, since it’ll surely give you a feel of what roadtrip means.
Accommodation in Bhandardara
There are a lot of resorts in the foothills and outskirts of Bhandardara, and MTDC has one hotel in the vicinity of the lake. One day trip is preferable, though. The booking for the MTDC resort has to be made prior to ensure availability of rooms.
Nearby attractions from Bhandardara includes these popular places:
- Amruteshwar Temple
- Arthur Lake
- Mt. Kalsubai
- Wilson Dam (Photograph Below)
- Randha Falls
Tips from the Author
Before visitng Bhandardara, do not forget to carry snacks (as there are no proper eating options available), be armed with mosquito repellents and carry warm clothes and windcheaters.
The Bhandardara Photo Story
We decided to take a less route travelled avoiding the madding tourist crowd in the main center of attractions which made the trip even more serene. They say “A Photograph is Worth Thousand Words”. So, here is a sneak peak in the form of Photo Story of Bhandardara in Maharashtra with more than 5,000 words for you. 😉
